Get to Know our Specialist! Dr Steven Gershman DPM

Dr. Steven Gershman is a highly accomplished podiatrist with a career spanning over three decades. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Health Sciences from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst in 1975. He furthered his education at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, where he graduated with a DPM degree in 1987, ranking second in his class.

During his time at the University of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Gershman was nominated to "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities" by the Microbiology Department. He also won the first prize in the Scientific Paper Competition held by the American Podiatric Medical Students Association.

Dr. Gershman completed his residency in Podiatric Surgery and Medicine at a combined program at Stanford University Medical Center and VA Medical Center, Palo Alto, California, in 1988. The following year, he began his private practice in Maine, specializing in chronic pain, injuries, diabetic foot issues, sports medicine, and biomechanics.

From 1990 to 2005, Dr. Gershman taught Biomechanics of the lower extremity to various professional medical specialists in the U.S. and Canada. He has trained over 1500 professionals in his methods of evaluating and treating lower extremity pathomechanics and specific clinical syndromes related to faulty biomechanics.
Dr. Gershman is also a specialist in the utilization of Low-Level Cold Laser treatment and is on the Medical Board of MicroLight Corp. He is currently researching various products such as L.C. Balancer and Java Sauce on diabetic neuropathy and nephropathy and autoimmune syndromes such as Sjogren's Syndrome and RA.
